Padres LOCK UP Machado

The San Diego Padres and Manny Machado have agreed on a 10-year $300 million dollar contract. Coming off a .297, 37 home run, 107 RBI season, there were no doubts that Machado would land a huge deal. Although his postseason antics and comments might’ve ‘scared’ away some teams, Machados talents are undeniable and the Padres know that. Not only is he a monster at the plate with power to all fields as well as he can hit for average, but the guy is also just as good on the defensive side of the ball. Machado is a 2-time gold glover that can play either third base or his original position of shortstop if need be although it has already been confirmed that he will stay at the hot corner. Machado is a very durable player who’s played in 150+ games in 5 of his 7 seasons and 162 in 3 of those 7 seasons. His career numbers per 162 games are .282, 31 HRs and 90 RBI’s. The Padres are hoping that with Machado and their young talent which is ranked the #1 farm system in baseball, can get them into the playoff for the first time since 2006.
