Jimmy Butler Turns Down Max Offer From 76ers to Join the Miami Heat

Pat Riley does it again.

Riley has been after a big named free agent for a few seasons now and finally, the time has come.

Jimmy Butler had made it known last season he wants to play for the Miami Heat. This off-season and Butler turned that wish into a reality. Butler informed Philadelphia he would be declining his player option and also would be declining their max offer to join the Miami Heat.

Pat Riley and cap wizard Andy Elisburg needed to work out some deals to make this sign-and-trade possible and they pulled off the cap gymnastics. Riley executed a 4-team trade that will send Josh Richardson to Philadelphia, Hassan Whiteside to Portland, Maurice Harkless to the Clippers and in return Miami acquired Meyers Leonard from Portland and Jimmy Butler from Philadelphia.

Sources also told Kill That Noise, Pat Riley was not done and was looking to add another star alongside Butler. Sources also confirmed Miami and Washington had engaged in trade talks focused around Bradley Beal.
